Textrim was initially only a wholesale business that branched
out into retail in 1988 when the company purchased a store
in Cross Street. This was followed by a store in Prince
Edward Street in 1989 and one in Leopold Street in 1991.
Since then the company has embarked on
a strong growth curve, with another store opening in Victoria
Street in 2002. These outlets, serve mainly the street traders
or the LSM 1-4 market and operate under the name Kwa Mtapuna
Stolo™.
Via joint ventures with fabric manufacturing giants Frame
Textiles and Da Gama Textiles, exclusive ethnic ranges of
fabrics have been designed bearing the retail chain’s
brand name.
Designed exclusively for the local market, they are not
available elsewhere in Southern Africa.
